Greetings from the Pool Committee!

First off, a big thanks to last year’s pool committee, especially to Richard Bleser who “retired” after twelve years of overseeing the grounds and working closely with the many contractors we use to keep the property beautiful.

We have been hard at work the past few months gearing up for the 2008 season which begins on Saturday May 24. When you arrive at the pool for the first time, you will notice that there is new furniture. We had approved this purchase at the end of last year, and many of you probably noticed that it was clearly time to do so. Thanks to our neighbors Liz and Mike Felsen who helped us with the purchase through their company and provided us with a very generous price. You will also notice that there is an extension of the concrete pad on the Hatherleigh side. This was extended in an effort to eliminate the “mud pit” that is often created when our Sharks and visiting swimmers line up for their meets. Additionally, the restrooms, baby changing area, and pool office have all been freshened up.

We are pleased to again have DRD Management taking care of the day to day operations this summer and to have George Kennedy and his assistants return to coach our competitive swimmers. Also, we will be accepting applications for the 2008 Stoneleigh Synchronized Swim team between May 20th and June 7th. Membership is limited to the first 60 girls with previous team members getting first priority. Check out both of the team’s links for more information.

Lastly, thanks to everyone who paid their annual dues as an “Early Bird.” Each year we receive approximately two-thirds of our resident revenue by April 1. This is greatly appreciated as there are purchases and ongoing maintenance each year to keep Stoneleigh Pool looking good.
