About the Board

The roles of SCA officers are established by the SCA bylaws, which also outline the process for nominating and electing officers and board members. Board members and committees have an important role in stewarding community resources, overseeing our community’s most treasured asset, Stoneleigh pool, and maintaining the beauty and vibrancy of our neighborhood. Above all, we are your neighbors and any SCA member is encouraged to learn more about serving on the board.

Our Inclusion Statement

Stoneleigh strives to be an inclusive, welcoming community.

We respect the value that diverse life experiences and perspectives bring to our neighborhood. The Board commits to listen to the views of our community and include its diverse perspectives in our stewardship.

The SCA Board of Governors invites ALL of our neighbors to be part of the work in serving the Stoneleigh Community.

Elections and Meetings

Elections take place each year in January at the SCA Annual Meeting which is open to all dues-paying members of the Stoneleigh Community Association.

Throughout the year, board meetings are typically held at the home of a board member. Special community-wide meetings are held as needed, with advance notice provided due to the meeting size and space required.

Document Sharing

In the spirit of transparency and accountability, minutes of all SCA meetings are available upon request to any dues-paying member of the SCA. Please send your request to the SCA Secretary.

SCA Board FAQs

Below are a few commonly asked questions. If you do not see your question listed here, please submit it through the contact form or feel free to contact any board member.

That depends on how you’d like to serve and how much time you have to offer! Executive Officer positions (President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary) and the role of Pool Chair are a larger time commitment than a committee chair or at-large member role.

All Board members are expected to serve the community with integrity, attend regular meetings and the annual meeting, lead and/or volunteer on at least one committee, and answer the call to help when needed.

In any position, you will meet new neighbors, learn more about the history of Stoneleigh, and have a good time while volunteering!
None other than the willingness to carry out your role to the best of your ability with integrity and honor your commitment.
We welcome the opportunity to engage new members! Stoneleigh has benefitted from the longstanding service of many of our board members. On any board, the combination of veteran and new members helps ensure continuity and brings new ideas forward.

Typically, the SCA president has served in one or more executive roles prior to serving as president. This tradition has helped provide the president with historical context and a better understanding of SCA operations.
Contact Stoneleigh president and secretary as soon as you can. The SCA bylaws outline the process in detail. You must indicate your interest in writing to be considered for next year’s slate of officers.

The Board reviews the next year’s slate of officers and candidates in the Fall and the Nominating Committee reviews and approves the proposed slate to be elected at the Annual Meeting in January. New members take office as of February 1 following the meeting.
Please join a committee! There are many ways to make a meaningful impact and have fun that can match the time you have to offer. Please see our committee page for more information.
